Teddy Samuel Shives, 88, of Oklahoma City, died August 2, 2016. A graveside service will held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, August 27, 2016, at Graham Cemetery in rural Mingo.

Memorials to the Wounded Warrior Project can be left at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton.

Ted was the 7th and youngest child of Jonathan Grant and Prudence Almira Shives. He was born on May 18, 1928, in Knoxville, IA.

Ted joined the Navy in 1944. After serving he met and married Jean Betts in 1948. Ted and Jean moved many times during their 62 years of marriage. In 1950, they left Iowa, moving to California. After moving around California for many years they moved to Washington State. They spent several years there before moving back to California. They moved to Arizona after retirement in 1990. In 2001, they decided to move closer to family, relocating to Oklahoma City.

Those he left behind are his daughter, Sandy Edgington of Oklahoma City; sons, Marty Shives of Yakima WA, and Steve Shives of Washington; along with several grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
