Ted Mac Loynachan, age 77, of rural Knoxville, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at the Hospice Comfort House in Pella.

Ted was born on March 14, 1941, in Oskaloosa, Iowa. His parents were Harold and Esther (Hayden) Loynachan.

Ted has one brother, Tom. He attended McMillen Country School until the 8th grade, then the Knoxville High School, and graduated with the class of 1959. He enjoyed playing basketball, while in school.

After high school, he attended Iowa State University and the University of Arizona and graduated with a Ph.D. in Bio-Chemistry and Animal Nutrition.

Ted was united in marriage to Dixie (Harsin) on November 10, 1962. They were blessed with two children: Brian and Carla. He was a proud business owner for over 40 years. His company was called ProNuco; an animal feed business.

Ted was a collector of antique tools and Red Wing Pottery. He enjoyed getting good deals at auctions. He was an avid sports fan and belonged to Lion’s Club in Pella for over 40 years.

Visitation will be held on Friday, November 23, 2018, at the Celebrate Community Church in Knoxville, beginning at 3:00 P.M. Ted’s family will be present to greet friends and relatives from 5:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 24, 2018 at the Celebrate Community Church at 10:30 A.M. Burial will follow at Breckenridge Cemetery in rural Knoxville. After burial services, a luncheon will be held at the Celebrate Community Church.Ted Loynachan

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Dixie Loynachan; children: Brian Loynachan and Carla (Manuel) Ramirez; three grandchildren: Elizabeth (Bob) Olson, Neil Ramirez, and Reed Ramirez, three great-grandchildren: William Holt, Ava Holt, and Maximus Giller; and one brother, Tom (Jean) Loynachan.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Esther Loynachan.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in Ted’s memory to the Knoxville Public Library and Celebrate Community Church of Knoxville.
