Teddy Leroy Beaver age 79 of Knoxville, Iowa, passed away Friday afternoon, January 24, 2014, at the Knoxville Hospital in Knoxville, Iowa.
Teddy was born in Harvey, Iowa, on January 24, 1935, the son of Clyde Eugene and Rosa Mae (Kersey) Beaver. Teddy was raised in the Harvey area and graduated from the Knoxville High School, Class of 1955.
On June 15, 1956, in Oskaloosa, Iowa, Teddy, and Daisy Josephine Lynch were united in marriage. Teddy and Josephine shared over 57 years of marriage and they were blessed with four children: Cynthia, Ronald, Donald, and Jonathan.
Ted worked all his life. He worked bridge construction as a younger man. He worked with the Army Corp of Engineers on the Red Rock Dam and Mile Long Bridge. Ted also worked as a carpenter and had a great talent for wood staining and vanishing. For 16 years Ted worked at Maytag in Newton.
Ted attended the Indianola First Assembly of God for 10 years. Many of Ted’s talents were with the use of his hands. He built most of his home, he enjoyed outdoor painting, gardening, and fishing.
Ted’s enjoyed coffee time around town and spending time with his friends. His latest pastime was playing checkers with his friends and family.
Ted is survived by his wife of 57 years, Josephine Beaver; his children, Cynthia (Dale) Collins of Des Moines, IA, Ronald (Bonnie) Beaver of Huntingdon, TN, Donald Beaver of Shrewsbury, PA, and Jonathan Beaver of Mt. Pleasant, IA; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Ted is also survived by his two sisters, Doris Chambers and Grace (Dwayne) Poe both of Oskaloosa, and his brother, Eugene Beaver of Newton. Ted is preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Rosa Beaver; three brothers, Charles, David, and Paul Beaver; and his sister, Deloris Martin.
Funeral services for Ted will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 28, 2014, at the Winfield Funeral Home of Knoxville with Pastor Barry Hill officiating. Burial will follow services at the Eureka Cemetery near Harvey, Iowa.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until service time on Tuesday at the Winfield Funeral Home. Ted’s family will be present.
