Tanya (DeZwarte) Dethrow was born January 6, 1952 in Oskaloosa, Iowa the daughter of Burdette and Evelyn (Amos) DeZwarte.

She attended Washington Country School until the 5th grade. Tanya then attended North Elementary and Knoxville Junior and Senior High Schools with the Class of 1970.

On December 21, 1968, she was united in marriage to William Thomas Dethrow in Knoxville. To this union two children were born, Marnie on January 5, 1971, and Kenton on August 30, 1972. Tanya began her career at Collins Hospital in 1978 as a CNA and obtained her CMA from DMACC.

Tanya worked many years with Dr. Bernie Hillyer at the Knoxville Mater Clinic, retiring in 2001. She then became a registered daycare provider and took care of children for several years.

Tanya passed away on Monday, September 3, 2018, at her home at the age of 66 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Burdette and Evelyn DeZwarte, and her husband, Tom.

Tanya is survived by her daughter, Marnie (Chris Cox) of Knoxville; son, Kenton (Angie) Dethrow of Knoxville; three brothers: Ronald (Kate) DeZwarte of Hamilton, Rodney (Glenna) DeZwarte of Knoxville, and Kenton (Pam) DeZwarte of Knoxville; two aunts, Naomi and Marilyn DeZwarte of Knoxville; grandchildren: Michael, Ashlee, Jared, Kaylee and William Dethrow, Devon Brees, Ember, and Braden Westfall and Cody, Trinity, Reagan, Collin, and Lauryn Cox; several cousins, nieces, nephews, and other family members and friends.

Tanya has been cremated and no services are planned. Memorials may be made to Mercy Hospice or to the Marion County Humane Society.
