Susan Janée (Scott) Garrett, 74, passed from this life to her heavenly home on Sunday, December 28, 2014, at her home surrounded by her family and friends.

She was born on December 8, 1940, in Des Moines, Iowa, and grew up in Knoxville, Iowa where she graduated from Knoxville High School in 1958. She attended Cornell College and the University of Iowa and graduated from Mercy School of Nursing, Des Moines, Iowa in 1963.

She married Leonard W. Garrett on April 2, 1966, in San Francisco, CA. She had two sons, Scott Wesley, and John Matthew. Her many roles and activities included: Devoted wife and mother, Registered Nurse, Childbirth Educator, Women’s Ministry and Senior Ministry Leader, Bible teacher and mentor, Crisis Pregnancy Center Co-Founder and Director, True Life Choices Co-Founder, and Mary Kay Beauty Consultant.

Janée loved people and was always concerned for others and their welfare. Even in the depth of her illness, she fretted that she was letting down her friends.

One of her special joys was entertaining new and old friends in her home. For several years she led a ladies’ Bible study and loved helping others find the truth and inspiration in God’s Word.

For the past 14 years, she enjoyed spending the summer months at the family cottage in northern Michigan. There she could indulge her love of flower gardening and the enjoyment of the woodlands and their wild creatures.

She is survived by her husband, Len; her two sons, Scott and John; her stepson, Jeff (Shirley); step-grandsons, Kevin (Jenny), Brandon, and Jordan of Brandon, FL; brother, Reid (Sandy) Scott of Port Charlotte, FL; cousin, Connie (John) Chester of Parker, CO; and her faithful and protective dog, Mickey.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Roger ” Bill” and Faye ” Bonnie” Scott; and stepfather, Chet Watson, all from Bradenton, FL.

Janée wanted to express her love and thanks to her many friends who have prayed for her during her short battle with cancer. She also wanted to express her appreciation for the wonderful care she received from the staff of Heartland Hospice.Susan Scott
