Ruth Addaleen (Zugg) Adams was born in Knoxville, Iowa, July 29, 1911 to Loren Worth Zugg and Maybel Agnes Schlotterback.

Her grandfather, John D. Schlotterback, served several terms as county auditor of Marion County.

After graduating being graduated in 1928 from Knoxville High School, she pursued two years of post-graduate studies and began a business career.

From 1932 to 1940, she was Knoxville City Assessor; and from 1941 to 1945 was Marion County Recorder, making a reputation that was well recognized when later she sought public office.

In Kirksville, Missouri, on January 16, 1943, Ruth A. Zugg married, Leland Francis Adams, who died on June 11, 1945; their son, David Loren Adams, was born July 22, 1944.

In 1948, Mrs. Adams returned to her former post, that of the Knoxville City Assessor, and since the following year has been Marion County Auditor.

Mrs. Adams a staunch Democrat. Fraternally she is affiliated with the Pythian Sisters and the Daughters of Rebekah,
and was a member of the First Methodist Episcopal Church, and active in religious and charitable works.

Ruth Adams, 58, passed away on 30 May 30, 1970 in Knoxville, Iowa.
