Funeral services for Ruth (Bellamy) Neal, 94, who died on Tuesday, November 13, 2001, were held on Friday, November 16, at Williams Funeral Home. Rev. Peter J. Peterson officiated at the services. Music was provided by Jim Kidder, vocalist and Darlene Mooberry, organist.
Interment was at Lincoln Cemetery in Marion County. Casketbearers were R.D. Galvin, Robert Haning, William Mattingly, Don Rodgers, Richard Sullivan and Don Vanden Berg
Ruth Bellamy Neal was born on March 22, 1907 in Knoxville. She was the daughter of Cleo H. and Eva Blanche Conley Bellamy. She graduated from Knoxville High School and attended Coe College in Cedar Rapids where she worked for a number of years in the office of the Clerk of the District Court.
She married Harry Marsh Neal on June 19, 1937 in Detroit, Mich. To this union one son was born. They resided in Detroit and Pontiac, Mich. And Huntington, Long Island, where Harry was employed. Harry and Ruth were co-owners of Neal Book Store in Knoxville for 10 years.
She was a member of Kappa Delta National Collegiate Sorority, a past president of the Knoxville Women's Club, and a member of Pleasure Time Club for many years.
She was also a member of First United Methodist Church where she had served on the Financial,
Pastor-Parish, Nominating and Scholarship Committees, was a communion steward and served as Administrative Board Secretary. She enjoyed reading, cross-word puzzles, playing Bridge and spending time at home.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harry; and two sisters, Lela Brillhart and Irene Hayes.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, John and Debra Neal of Reinbeck and two grandsons, Noah and Dylan of Reinbeck.
