Funeral services
for Ruby Ruth (Roff) Stapleton, 91, will be Saturday July 12, at 1 p.m., at Pierschbacher Funeral
Home in Chariton. Ruby was born Dec. 3, 1916, in Knoxville, to Charles and Ramona
Roff.
She attended the Rising Star Country School and graduated from Knoxville High
School in 1935.
She was married to Fred B. Stapleton on Oct. 4, 1936, in Des Moines.
She enjoyed cooking for big occasions and loved when the family could all get together.
She was very jovial and enjoyed telling stories to the delight of her family. She
was a compassionate woman and would help anyone less fortunate. Her grandchildren
remember the "purple pie" she would make sure to have when they came to visit.
Ruby passed away July 3, 2008, in Chariton.
She is survived by her children: Fred
Stapleton of Chariton, Larry B. Stapleton of Albia, and Marilynne (Cal) Hand of
Minneapolis; six grandchildren: Phyllis, Kim, Laurie, Tiffany, Jason, and Amanda; 11 great-grandchildren: Alex, Nikki, Alyse, Johnnie, Jessiea, Finn, Luke, Elsa Mae,
Lily, Vegas and Jimmy; and a sister Lorraine Evans of Grand Forks, N.D. Ruby was
preceded in death by her husband Fred B. Stapleton, an infant daughter Carolynne
Jane Stapleton; and siblings: Velma Heaberlin and Leslie Roff.
