Kathleen Virginia (Bankus) Morris, 65, of Knoxville, Iowa died Tuesday, July 1, 2008 at Mercy Hospice in Johnston, Iowa.
Kathleen was born January 10, 1943, in Helena, AR to Wendell “Breezy” and Catherine (Mitchell) Bankus.
She resided most of her life in Knoxville, with the exception of 17 years in Liberty Center, IA.
Kathleen was united in marriage to Raymond Smith on August 8, 1961, and to this union, four children were born.
They later divorced.
In 1988, Kathleen met the love of her life, Robert Morris, and they were married in Las Vegas, NV on January 13, 1995.
They made their home in Columbia, IA and Liberty Center, IA.
Kathleen enjoyed camping, traveling, yard work, bird watching, and creating/trading computer greeting cards with others on the World Wide Web. She was also especially fond of the time she could spend with her children,
grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Kathleen is survived by her loving husband, Robert; two sons, Bill (Tami) Smith and Donnie (Michelle) Smith of Knoxville; two daughters, Garla Comer and Deanna (Tim) Wahl of Knoxville; two brothers, Jack Tullis
and Harry (Timi) Tullis of Juneau, Alaska; 15 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren;
two nieces, Marcy Bankus of Barrington Hills, IL, and Laurie (Gordon) Gottschalk
of Byron, IL; sister-in-law, Judy Bankus Cooper; two step-sons, Steven (Linda) Morris
of Ankeny, and Jimmy (Sandy) Morris of South Amana; and step-daughter, Sheryl (Jeff)
Ford of Sioux City.
She was preceded in death by her father, Wendell “Breezy” Bankus; her mother, Catherine (Mitchell) Tullis; two brothers, Jim and Larry Bankus, and grandson, Christopher Comer.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, July 8 at 10:00 a.m. at Williams Funeral Home in Knoxville with Bill McDonald officiating. Musical selections were: “Wind Beneath My Wings”, “How Can I Help You Say Good-Bye”, and
“Holes in the Floor of Heaven”.
Casket Bearers were: Jeff Ford, Chris Morris, Jimmy Morris, Steven Morris, Taylor Smith, and Tim Wahl.
Honorary Casket Bearers were: Chelsea Ford, Megan Comer, and Tasha Smith.
