Rose Marilyn (James) Sytsma, 76, of Knoxville, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at the Pella Regional Health Center.

Rose was born in Lucas County, Iowa on July 27, 1942, to Walter and Effie (Grimes) James. They moved to the Knoxville area when she was around 13 years old. She was united in marriage to Kenneth Sytsma in 1960. They shared 58 years of marriage together and were blessed with one son, Roger.

Rose and Kenneth farmed and raised their family in rural Knoxville, during which time she was a homemaker and farmwife.

Rose took pleasure in going to garage sales and finding treasures. She collected dolls and many other things. She enjoyed sharing her love, and her time with her family.

Rose is survived by her husband, Kenneth of rural Knoxville; son, Roger (Darla Roff) Sytsma of rural Knoxville; two grandchildren, Harlan Sytsma and Hayley Sytsma; siblings, Bertha (Gary) Webber of Woodward, Lloyd James of Des Moines, and Lyle James of Knoxville; one brother-in-law, Jack Lewis of Indianola; one sister-in-law, Vera James of Waterloo; also many other nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A private family burial was held at the Asbury Cemetery in rural Knoxville on Thursday, October 18, 2018.

Visitation services will be held on Friday, October 19, 2018, at the Winfield Funeral Home of Knoxville beginning at 3:00 P.M.

Rose’s family will be present from 5:00 P.M.-7:00 P.M. to greet relatives and friends.
