Services for Ronald Ray Cowman, 38, of 2316 S.E. 10th St. Des Moines and formerly of Knoxville, who died of cancer, Saturday, Sept. 13, 1986 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, were held Wed, Sept. 17, 1:30 p.m. at Bybee and Davis Funeral Home, in Knoxville, Iowa.
Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Prairie City. Rev. Max Johnson officiated at the services. Music was provided by James Kidder, organist.
Pallbearers were Gary Oja, Tod Verwers, John DeVoss, Howard Cowman, Clarence Evans, and Brenton Trabert. Honorary bearers were Mike Irving, Shawn Cowman, Gary and Larry Verwers, Clarence Lentsch, and Jimmy DeMoss.
Mr. Cowman was born Aug. 15, 1948 in Iowa City, son of Shelly and Lavonne Shipman Cowman.
Graduating from Knoxville High School, he had made his home in Des Moines for the past 16 years where he operated R.C. Foods convenience store.
Survivors include two sons, Ronald S. and Christopher, both of Sheboygan, Wis.; his parents, Shelly and Lavonne Cowman of Knoxville; three sisters, Colleen DeMoss of Faribault, Minn., Judy Verwers of Dallas and Debbie Oja of Des Moines; a twin brother, Donald Dean of Daytona Beach, Fla.; and his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Everett Shipman of Fort Dodge.
Friends may call after 9 a.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Wright Day Care Center or Fairground Little League.
