Gary Ronald Weldon was born on September 28, 1938 in Lovilia Iowa the son of Clarence
“Buster Weldon and Anna Kathryn (Hulse) Weldon.
Ron was raised in Knoxville and as a young man, he worked as a mechanic. He later got his C.D.L. and started driving a semi. He worked for Ben Shinn for many years, although he had worked for other
trucking companies through the years. Ron was also a member of the National Guard
for several years.
On December 22, 1962, he was united In marriage to Sharon Kingrey
in Knoxville, The couple always made Knoxville their home until moving to Des Moines
5 years ago.
Ron had many interests; He enjoyed Wild West Shows and collecting antique
model cars. He was a huge John Wayne fan and had a room filled with memorabilia.
His greatest pleasure in life was his family; he cherished his wife, children, and
grandchildren.
Ron passed away on Saturday, April 19, 2003, at his home, in Des Moines,
at the age of 64 years, 6 months, and 22 days. He was preceded in death by his parents
and two brothers; Clarence, Jr., and Robert.
Those left to honor his memory include his loving wife, Sharon; seven children: LaDonna (Weldon) Lester and husband Garry of Colfax, Ricky Weldon of Newton. Ron Weldon of Des Moines,
Ronda Lown of Jacksonville, Florida, Robin Francis of Des Moines, Roanna Weldon of Newton and Randy Weldon and wife Stacy of Des Moines; 13 grandchildren; Moines, 1; a great-grandchild; 1 sister, Lois Buss, and one brother, James Weldon both Des Moines and many other family members and friends.
Funeral services for Ron Weldon were held at the BybeeDavis Funeral Home in Knoxville on Tuesday, April 22, 2003, at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Michael Lumbard officiating. Casket bearers were Chuck Hulgan, Jim Rogers, Paul Tickle, Ed Short Weldon, Greg Weldon, and Jerry Weldon. Interment was at Zion
Cemetery in Pershing.
