David Lee Whisler, 72, was born January 20, 1931, in Centerville, Iowa, and went to be with the Lord on April 2, 2003..
He graduated from Knoxville High School with the class of 1949.
David loved doing many things in his life like going to Pismo Beach, growing tomatoes, going to the mountains at Alta Sierra, loved reading, and especially loved playing golf.
David was predeceased by his precious son, Randy Layne, his parents, F.J. and Caroline Whisler, brothers, Noel and Duane and sister, Juanita.
David married the love of his life Lenos Areta Hippen in Knoxville, Iowa, on June 18, 1950. He was the proud father of his beloved children and their spouses: Dava and Charles Tufts, Cheri and Mike Caterlin, Lori and Michael Gonzales, Scott and Kathleen Whisler, Linda Whisler and Lee Lamberson and Larry and Beth Wyatt all of Bakersfield. Grandchildren and spouses: Jason and Elyce Wyatt, Christy and Heath Scoggins, Davey and Shane Wyatt, Callee and Sean Garner, Jamie Manes, Jeremy and Amanda Manes, Dana Wickliffe and Dallas Vaquera, Stephanie Whisler, Cody Whisler, Amy Whisler, Randy Hale, Justin Gonzales, Jessica Gonzales; twelve great-grandchildren; brothers, Hugh Whisler of Denver, Colorado and Ned and Julie Whisler of Tipton, Missouri; sister-in-law, Rosalie Whisler of Lakewood, Colorado and Velda and Robert De Cosentine of Culver City, CA; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, and especially his faithful companions, Rebo and Sassy..
He was preceded in death by his parents; his Precious son, Randy Layne; two brothers, Noel
and Duane Whisler; and a sister, Juanita.
You were a wonderful Husband, Father, and Grandpa. You always put us first no matter what. We love you and will always miss you.
Services were held Monday, April 7, at Hillcrest Memorial Chapel in Bakersfield, Calif.
