Funeral services for Robert Neely, who died Dec. 22 at El Centro, Calif., were held Dec. 30 from Evans Arlington Chapel with Rev. James W. Dendler officiating.
Burial was in Graceland cemetery with Odd Fellow services by Knoxville IOOF Lodge 90.
Casket bearers were Wall a c e West, Bill Wolf, Owen Elliott, Elwood Patterson, Lloyd Harvey and Jordan Evans. Mrs. Guy Anderson was organist. Fonda Stephens and Freda West arranged the flowers.
Robert Daniel, son of Algern N. and Emma J. Neely, was born Jan. 24, 1916 in Knoxville. He graduated from Knoxville high school in 1933, AIB in 1937, attended the University of Oslo (Norway) i n 1956; and graduated from Drake University on June 7, 1954.
He was a life member of Phi Theta Pi national commerce fraternity; Optimist Club of El Centro; past grand of Walla Walla IOOF, Sarah Rebekah Lodge No. 10, Ancient Mystic Order of Samaritans No. 32; Colfax Encampment No. 23 all of North Platt, Neb.; P. R. Holligan Post 163, American Legion and Knoxville United Methodist Church.
He served in the army from 1943 until 1946, and as a non-commissioned officer served in the Canal Zone, China and with General Marshall’s headquarters. He reentered civil service in 1946 and served with the Veterans Administration until 1950 and after completing his education in 1954, he served in the Social Security Administration for 14 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Henry E. Neely.
Surviving are three sisters, Malvina and Bertha Neely of El Centro, and Mrs. Harold (Willa) Carpenter of Knoxville.
