Graveside services for Forrest Robert Goodspeed, 80, formerly of Des Moines, who
died April 26, 2000 at Boswell Memorial Hospital, Sun City, Ariz., were held Saturday,
May 13 at 10 a.m. in Graceland Cemetery in Knoxville.

Forrest was born on October
19, 1919 in Harvey, the son of Forrest Goodspeed and Helen McClure Goodspeed.
He moved to Des Moines in 1936, graduated from North High in 1937 and graduated
from Drake Pharmacy College in 1941.

Forrest was a Navy veteran of World War II.
He retired and sold his Clive pharmacy in 1988. Forrest was a survivor, struggling
with life-long bouts of bronchitis and pneumonia. In 1988, he discovered he had
pancreatic cancer. Through surgery, radiation, chemotherapy and determination, he
passed the five-year check-up, making him a survivor of cancer.

Forrest moved to
Sun City, Ariz., in 1991. He married Irene Kruger Davis in 1998 and moved to Tempe,
Ariz. Forrest was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife,
Irene; Three stepchildren, Oren and Shelley Davis of Tempe, Ariz., and Susan Bobb,
of Highland Ranch, Colo.; seven step-grandchildren; one great step-grandchild; five
nieces; one nephew; and two sisters, Frances Stewart, of Des Moines, and Martha
Rosebraugh, of Wheaton, Ill.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Lung Association
of Iowa and the American Cancer Society of Iowa.
