Services for Richard C. Stroud, 67, Marion County, who died on April 21, 1993, were
at the Hoffmeister Funeral Home in St. Louis, Mo. Graveside services were at the
Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis. Retired Navy Chaplain Rev. Brethaur
and Veterans Administration Chaplain Rev. Collingwood officiated at the service.
Special eulogies were given by Harold G. White, brother-in-law and Michael Gremillion,
son-in-law.
Richard was born on March 6, 1926 in Marion County, the son of Worth
and Jessie Stroud.
On Dec. 13, 1947, he was married to Mary Ruth White. Richard
was a veteran of the United States Navy Air Corps, initially stationed at the Jefferson
Barracks during the end of World War II.
After serving his time in the military,
Richard returned to his homestead in Marion County. He was a life-long farmer and
an employee at the Knoxville Veterans Administration Hospital. He was also a past
member of the Masonic Lodge in Tracy.
His life centered around his wife, children
and grandchildren. He had a love for the outdoors and nature, which he shared and
passed on to his children and grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents;
one brother, Merle; and one sister Marian. Survivors include his wife of Marion
County; two daughters, Deborah Youngblut of Logan and Rebecca Gremillion of Dallas,
Texas; one brother, Willis Stroud of Harvey; one sister, Helen Loynchan of Knoxville;
and three grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association
or the American Cancer Society.
The Hoffmeister Funeral Home in St. Louis, Mo. was
in charge of the arrangements.
