Services for Richard Dale McVay, 61, of Attica, who passed away May 10, 1991 at
his home, were held May 13 at Williams Funeral Home. Interment will be in Marysville
Cemetery. Rev. Dale Reisner officiated at the service. Music was provided by organist
Jim Kidder.
Richard Dale McVay was born May 11, 1929 the son of Henry and Ethel
Imogene Smith McVay. He was one of two children born to this marriage. Richard attended
and graduated from the Knoxville School System in 1947 and went immediately to work
as a carpenter for Noel Frazier. Later he worked for Taber Lumber Company before
entering the Army during the Korean Conflict. He returned to Knoxville in 1953.
He was united in marrige to Alberta Aleen Burk on Sept. 9, 1955 in Laurel, four
children were born to this union. Richard loved his job as a carpenter because this
was also his hobby and his enjoyment. He took pride and enjoyment in his work.
He
was preceded in death by his parents. Those family members surviving him are his
wife, Alberta of rural Knoxville; two sons, Richard Wayne McVay of Leavenworth,
Kan. and Randall Dale McVay of Cheyenne Mountain, Colo.; two daughters, Debora Marie
Barry of Boone and Tammy Sue McVay of Tinker Air Force Base, Okla.; one sister,
Mrs. Robert (Darlene) Klootwyk of Pleasantville; 11 grandchildren; his aunt Francis
Fee of Knoxville and a cousin Edward Nichols also of Knoxville.
He is also survived
by two special people in his life, Tom Parker of Piscataway, NJ. and Albert Burk
of Marysville. Many other relatives and a host of friends also survive him.
