Richard Lee Adkins was born January 1, 1957 at Collins Hospital, in Knoxville, Iowa, the son of Francis Gale Adkins and Delores Irene (Nichols) Adkins.
He was raised in Knoxville and graduated with the Class of 1979. On November 21, 1987 Richard was united in marriage to Bonnie Hodgson. The couple was recently blessed by renewing their vows at the Comfort House in Pella.
Richard worked for the V.A. Hospital for 17 years as a Nurse Aid and Health Technician. In his spare time, Richard enjoyed western movies, coffee with his friends at Mr C’s and sitting by the fireplace in his living room. His greatest joy was spending time with his wife and family.
Richard passed away on Thursday, November 8, 2012 at the Comfort House in Pella at the age of 55 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Joseph Orville Adkins.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Bonnie; daughters: Amanda (Josh) Greubel of Dewitt, Iowa and Melodie (Chris) Smith of Des Moines; two grandchildren, Benen and Nya Rose Greubel and many other family members and friends.
