Funeral services for Pete Herman Bruinekool, who passed away March 12, 1979 at Collins Memorial Hospital, were held March 15 at Evans-McCleery Funeral Home.
Rev. William Travis officiated at the services. The organist was Anna Oscarson, the soloist was John Crawford. Casketbearers were Floyd Miller, Louis Dickerson, Gay Baumgarten, Ellis Jordan, Tommy Jordan and Paul Holdsworth. Interment was in Lincoln Cemetery.
Pete Bruinekool was born Dec. 4, 1910 at Chariton, the son of Mary Jane Wallace and Herman Henry Bruinekool.
He graduated from Knoxville High School in 1929 and attended Iowa State University and Simpson College.
Pete was united in marriage to Berniece Shivvers on Oct. 5, 1935. He was active in the 1.0.0.F. Lodge, where he had served as the Noble Guard.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Knoxville.
He engaged in farming in Marion County with his father-in-law, and then in the dry cleaning business with his father.
At the time of his death, he was employed at the V.A. Medical Center in Knoxville. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Berniece; two sons, Robert H. of Des Moines, and James H. of Knoxville; two grandsons; his sister, Betty Dixson of Pidgeon, Mich.; and his brother, Charles of Grandview, Wash.
