Funeral services for John M. Kamerick of Knoxville, who passed away March 21, 1979 at Collins Memorial Hospital, were held March 24 at Evans-McCleery Funeral Home.
Dr. Leonard Deaver officiated at the services. Organist was Anna Oscarson and soloist was John Crawford.
Casketbearers were Abe Goemaat, C. W. Van Rees, William Goff Warren Whaley, Jim Riherd and Robert McClung.
Honorary Casketbearers were Paul Harp. B. W. Dutton. Byron Frazier, Don Tucker, Eric Zack, and Arthur Wagner. Interment was in Graceland Cemetery.
John M. Kamerick son of John and Hattie Whaley Kamerick was born Nov. 11, 1900, Knoxville.
As a boy, he attended the public Schools of Knoxville and graduated with the Class of 1918 from the Knoxville High School.
Following high school graduation, John found employment at the Hunter Chaim Co. in Knoxville. He later became a Bank Receiver until 1941 when he took employment with the Office of Price Administration in Des Moines, later moving to Chicago.
Following his stint with the 0.P.A he opened his own Real Estate Office in Knoxville, retiring in 1976.
John was united in marriage to Ruth Craig on May 21, 1925 at the bride’s home near Knoxville. John and Ruth celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary in the home of their son in 1975.
John was a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, Oriental Lodge No. 61. A. F. and A. M., Tadmore Chapter Royal Arch Masons, Melita Commander of Knights Templar, all of Knoxville, as well as Za Ga Zig Shrine of Des Moines. He was the last Charter member of the Pine Knolls Country Club.
He had been a member of the First United Methodist Church of Knoxville since 1925.
John was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his widow, Ruth of Knoxville his daughter, Mrs. LeRoy (Dorothy) Heuer of Evanston, Ill.; his son, John 0. Kamerick of Knoxville; a sister, Emma Jean DeWitt of Hollywood, Fla., and four grandchildren.
