Funeral services for Naomi Vanderlinden,
who passed away March 31 in Pleasantville at the age of 85, were held April 3, 1989 with the Rev. Michael Bande officiating. Music
provided by Rev. Bahde, pianist and Martha Prichard, organist.
Pall-bearers were Lance Vander Linden, Brad Vander Linden, Eric Vander Linden, Todd Thorson, Jon Seaver: Jason Murphy, David Murphy, Tim Ogg, Jeffrey Ogg and Scott Ogg. Interment was in Pleasantville Cemetery and arrangements were handled by Mason Funeral Home.
She was born in Knoxville on March 6, 1904, the daughter of Edmond and Mari Ellen Spahr Jones and was one of 13 children. She was educated in the Knoxville schools and graduated in 1923. She was employed at the Marion County Abstract Office following graduation.
She was united in marriage to Andrew R. Vander Linden of Pella on June 7, 1926 in Des Moines and they resided in Pella and Knoxville before moving to Pleasantville. To this union were born nine children.
Following the death of her husband she was employed at Pleasant Care Living Center for several years St. Paul's United Methodist Church, the Priscilla Club and an honorary member of the United Methodist Women and the Pleasantville Alumni Association.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one infant daughter, son-in-law Richard J. Thorson, four brothers and eight sisters.
She is survived by; three sons, Merle and his wife Jackie of Indianola, Leland and wife Sally of Pleasantville, and Alan and wife Sherry of Pleasantville; five daughters, Patricia (Max) Shook Pleasantville, Eloise Thorson of Story City, Sara Ann (Robert) Seaver of Des Moines, Kathleen (Patrick) Murphy of Altwna and Sue Ellen (David) Ogg of Stanley, Kan.; 19 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one brother-in-law, Marion Vander Linden of Oskaloosa; one sister-in-law, Florence Jones of Newton; and several nieces and nephews.
