Nancy Jane (Beebout) Phillips, 38, of Searsboro died of cancer Wednesday, April 20, 1988, at her home.
Services were held Friday, April 22, 1988 at the Lynnville First Friends Church. Interment was in Columbia Cemetery, Columbia, Iowa.
The Revs. Chet Robertson and Kenneth Santee officiated at the services. Music was provided by Norma Sutton, organist, and Diane Barton, soloist. Pallbearers were Donald, Leo and Tim Beebout, Rick Shutts, Rick Snook, and Glen VanDyke.
Mrs. Phillips was born on Jan. 15, 1950 at Chariton, and lived in Searsboro since 1977.
She was the daughter of Kenneth Tyler Beebout b.1915 d.2013 and Evelyn L. Shepard . She graduated from Knoxville High School in 1968 and from the University of Northern Iowa in 1972.
On August 5, 1977 at Columbia, she married Robert E. Phillips.
She taught elementary school for eight years In the Lynnville-Sully schools and previously taught at kindergarten at Ida Grove for a year, during the 1972-73 school year and at the Lynnville-Sully S. District from 1973 to 1981.
She was a former member of the Columbia United Methodist Church, and a current member of the Searsboro Community Friends Church. She was also a member of the La Leche League and the Iowa State Education Association.
Surviving are her husband, Robert; two sons. Nathan and Kirk, both of Searsboro, her parents. Kenneth and Evelyn Beebout of Columbia; her grandmother, Gladys Shepard of Chariton; two sisters, Mary Beebout of Newton and Cheryl Beebout of The Colony, Texas; and three brothers. Warren (Jan) Beebout of Stevens Point, Wisc, Wayne (Joyce) Beebout of Cedarburg, Wisc., and Charles (Mary) Beebout of Colorado Springs, Colo.
Smith Funeral Home Grinnell was in charge of arrangements.
