Mary Ruth Crook, age 78 of Knoxville, passed away on Sunday January
16, 2005 unexpectedly in Waco Texas.
A Celebration of Life Service for Mary was
held at 1:00PM on Friday January 21, 2005 at the First Church of the Nazarene in
Knoxville with Rev. Robin Bucklin officiating. Interment was In Graceland Cemetery.
Visitation was held at noon on Thursday With the family present from 6:00-8:00PM
at the Williams Funeral Home in Knoxville.
Mary was born on December 17, 1926 in
Knoxville the daughter of Clyde and Elizabeth (Aabers) Vohl, and attended Knoxville
schools.
She was united in marriage with Albert Crook in May of 1953 in Unionville,
Missouri. Mr. Crook preceded Mary in death on March 12, 2000 in Des Moines, Iowa.
Mary worked for Rollscreen for many years, following her retirement from there she
cooked for several years at the Marion County Care Facility in Knoxville.
She was
a faithful member of the First Church of the Nazarene and Truly loved her church.
Mary also was an avid bowler, she loved to help others out when the need arose,
and was a great fan of Country Western music.
Survivors include her daughter Joyce
Clendening and her husband Kay of Lorena, Texas, brother Raymond Vohl and his wife
Wilma of Knoxville, and sister Gladys (Willis) Briggs of Knoxville. Grandchildren David Vaugh
and his wife Mary, Roger Vaugh, and Sheree Clendening, and 5 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters and two brothers; John Walter Vohl
(b.April 26, 1911-d.Nov 16, 1930) and Leslie Max Vohl.
Memorials in Mary’s name should be made to the First Church of the Nazarene of Knoxville
or Quality Home Care Professionals of Knoxville. The Williams Funeral Home of Knoxville
was in charge of the arrangements.
