Mary L. (Penland) Stenlund of Des Moines, Iowa died on January 20, 2011.
She was born on June 6, 1917, to John and Blanche Penland of Knoxville, Iowa. Mary, the youngest of four sisters, was a graduate of Knoxville High School, and married her high school sweetheart,
Earnest Dunham, in 1938. They moved to Des Moines and had two children, Larry and
Linda.

After being widowed in 1947, she attended the American Institute of Business
in Des Moines, became a real estate broker, and started a local realty company.
Mary was very devoted to her family and enjoyed life to the fullest, including dancing,
roller skating, reading, doll collecting, and ceramics. She was a member of Grace
Methodist Church.Mary Penland

She is survived by her daughter Linda Wilson: three grandchildren,
John Wilson, Christopher Dunham, and Kimberly Hobbs; seven great-grandchildren, John II, Samuel, Matthew, Luke, Jessie, Jacob, and Amara; niece, Kara Woodruff; and great-niece Angie.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, January
29, 2011, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street in Des Moines, followed by burial at Graceland Cemetery in Knoxville, Iowa.
