Darlene Ruth (Sellers) Vernon was born August 21, 1933, in Dunreath, Iowa the daughter of George
G. Sellers and Fay (Templeton) Sellers.

As a girl, Darlene was raised in Monroe,
Reasnor and Nepas. She graduated from Knoxville High School. Following high school,
Darlene worked for Bellamy Telephone.

On May 31, 1953, she was united in marriage
to Gail Ogden Vernon. The couple lived in Knoxville for the rest of their lives. Darlene
later went to work for Pamida, retiring in 2000 after 26 years of service. She enjoyed
traveling all over the United States and taking cruises.

Darlene passed away on
Tuesday, January 18th at Iowa Methodist Medical Center, in Des Moines, at the age
of 77 years, 4 months, and 28 days. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and two brothers: Marvin and Carrol “Whitey”.

of Pershing and many other family members and friends.
