Mary Emaline (Myers) Ely was born on April 27, 1924, in Knoxville to Harvey and Grace Hill
Myers. She graduated from Knoxville High School in 1943.

She married Garland Ely
on March 24, 1946, in Knoxville. A lifelong resident of Knoxville, Mary taught
in country schools and worked for Hy-Vee and the Marion County Auditor's Office. She
also worked for the County Superintendent of Schools for 17 years.

She especially enjoyed
babysitting for many children in her home for over 20 years. Mary played the organ
for the VA Chapel for 20 years, was a member of the Pentecostal Church and of the
Church of God for the past 30 years.

Mary passed away on Feb. 27, 2007, at Griffin
Nursing Center at the age of 82.

In addition to her parents and husband in 1990,
she was preceded in death by one infant sister, Arvita, and brothers, Harry, Olin
Eugene, Marshall, Stanley and William J. (Billy). She is survived by one son, William
(Brenda) of Joplin, Mo.; one brother, Dr. Richard W. Myers (Marjorie) of Knoxville;
sisters-in-law, Margaret Myers, Frances M. Reed, and Rosella Ely; two grandchildren;
one great-grandson; four step-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; many great-nieces and nephews and long-time friend Vicki Herrmann of Knoxville.

Funeral services
were held on March 3 at EvansMcCleery Funeral Home with Pastor Raymond Bettis officiating.
Interment was in Graceland Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Knoxville Humane
Society, Church of God, or Stepping Stones Early Learning Center.
