Mary Jane McClung, age 57 of Knoxville, Iowa passed away October 13, 2015.
Mary was born October 7, 1958 in Iowa City, Iowa to Dr. Robert and Janet McClung. Her early years were spent in Iowa City, Des Moines, and then Pensacola, Florida, where her father served in the Navy.
After returning to Iowa, Mary attended school in Knoxville, graduating with the Class of 1977.
Following high school, Mary spent time living in Utah and then Colorado, where her daughter Katy was born in 1978. 1n 1981, Mary returned to Knoxville, where she lived the rest of her life.
Mary maintained a positive outlook throughout her life. Support from family, friends, and various care providers throughout the years provided Mary with the ability to enjoy her community. The Marion County Care Facility, its staff, and residents played a particularly important role in Mary’s later years. She was always very appreciative of the support given to her.
Mary’s greatest source of pride and enjoyment was her daughter Katy. Her favorite activities included shopping, eating fine foods, visiting with friends, making crafts, and attending church. She also enjoyed her ability to remember names and details of people she met throughout her life.
Mary is survived by her daughter, Katy Carter of Fort Collins, Colorado, a sister, Kendall McClung, of Menomonie, Wisconsin, brother, Tim (Debbie) of Knoxville, and nephews Jared and Blake McClung.
She was preceded in death by her mother Janet in 1999 and her father Robert in 2003.
Following Mary’s service, her remains will be transported to Colorado where she will be laid to rest.

A Memorial Service for Mary Jane McClung, age 57 of Knoxville, will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at the Bybee & Davis Funeral Home.
Refreshments will be served and the family will receive friends following the memorial service at Bybee & Davis Funeral Home.
