Mary Jo (Fantz) Hughes (GG), age 88, passed away peacefully in her sleep January 14th 2015 at the Diamond D care center in Delta, Utah.
Born May 4th 1926, to Harold Fantz, and Mary Johnson Fantz, in Kansas City, MO. Mary was one of six children. She graduated high school in Knoxville IA.
Mary lived in San Jose, California most of her life, following her son and family to Clarksville, Tennessee, and eventually to Hinckley, Utah.
Mary lost her father to a car accident when she was very young. Mary was married twice and later divorced. She had one son, David Joseph Shull. Mary survived breast, kidney, and skin cancer throughout her life.
Mary worked as an accountant all of her working career. She loved to travel and be with her three grandkids. Mary was an avid golfer, until her later years. She enjoyed fishing, bicycling, cross-stitch, and many outdoor activities.
Mary enjoyed museums, historical sites, touring historical cities, and antiques. She especially enjoyed antique glassware and Japanese china. She was part owner of an antique store in California. She owned land in the historical 49er district.
Mary was preceded in death by her Father, Mother, Sister Gean, and Brother Jack.
Mary is survived by her son: David (Lois) Shull, of Delta UT; Grandson, Tracy (Amber) Shull, of Layton UT; Granddaughter Christel (Kevin) Unsell, of Clarksville TN; Granddaughter Jennifer (Joshua) Painter, of Delta UT; Brother/ Uncle/Cousin /Father Jim Schall of CA; Sister Jeannie (Jerome) Vertin of ID; Brother Jerry (Carol) Schall of ID; Beloved Cousin Nancy McManus of NV.
Mary had seven great-grandchildren.
Cremation services are provided by the Alternative Society of Utah. Memorial services will be planned for a later date.
