Mary Jo was born on May 28, 1944, in Des Moines, Iowa, the daugther of Milo Merhyn
and Dorothy Edwards Beard. She attended school at Ottumwa Heights and Clinton Holy
Angels and graduated from Knoxville High School in 1961.
She married James Rahe, Jr. on July 18, 1964 in Knoxville. They've made their home
in Pleasantville since that time. Mary was employed by Bankers Live in Des Moines
until 1966. She was very active in Pleasantville school and community activities,
and also taught Religion Classes at St. Anthonys.
Mary died on December 28, 1988 at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines at the age of 44
years and 7 months.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her husband; one son: Marc of Pleasantville; two daughters: Deirdre
of Hollywood, Florida and Kara of Pleasantville; three brothers: James, Michael
and Thomas, all of Knoxville and two sisters: Mrs. Kenneth (Patricia) Reddick of
Shoreview, Minnesota and Lavohn Barbour of Des Moines.
