Marjorie Louise Roush was born on January 15, 1936, at Percy near Monroe, Iowa. She was the youngest of six children that were born to George William and Marjorie Mae (Roff) Roush.

Marjorie or “Marj” attended school in her early years at Albia, Iowa. She graduated from Knoxville High School in the Class of 1954. After graduating she moved to Des Moines, Iowa, and began work at the Federal Housing Administration. She then became employed at the Veteran’s Administration in Des Moines and retired from this lifelong civil service career with the V.A. in 1991.

Marjorie was an adventurous woman. She carefully saved money from her jobs and used these funds to travel the world. She traveled extensively throughout the United States and Europe, documenting her travels with many photographs.

Marj was fond of crafts, including crocheting, quilting, and attending craft fairs. She also liked to attend the Iowa State Fair, musical concerts, RAGBRAI, and the Des Moines Farmers’ Market. She had a love for dogs, playing cards, and genealogy.

It has been said that she was the “dessert lady” at family functions, usually serving her famous pies. Marj was a strong supporter of the National World War II Memorial- making sure her brothers’ names were included on the registry.

Marj became a resident of Homestead Memory Care and passed away there on May 29, 2017, at the age of 81 years.

She is survived by her sister-in-law, Louise Roush of Knoxville, and 12 nieces, and nephews; Cheryl (Darrell) Boothe, George Roush, Laura (Roy) DeVos, Vicki (Kevin) Needham, Teri Roush, Wayne (Pat) Roush, Donna Wright, Nancy (Richard) Warren, Steve Roush, Kathy (Jim) Corey, Kimberly (Dave) Allen and William Roush, Jr.

Marj was preceded in death by her parents, her five brothers; Delmar, Delbert, Marion, Joseph, and William, and two nieces, Mary Lou Brooks and Kristi Roush. Marj could be depended on by her family in their time of need. She was meticulous in keeping records and helping when she could use her knowledge to benefit her family. She will be missed by her entire extended family. Marjorie Roush
