Marjorie M. McCombs Maas, 79, of Knoxville, formerly of Lovilia, died Dec. 1, 2008,
at the Knoxville Hospital.
She was born Dec. 10, 1928, in Lang, Saskatchewan, Canada, to Clarence and Bethany
(Fitzpatrick) Hyer.
She married Junior Goemaat. She later married Gene McCombs and he preceded her in
death in 1985. She then married Louie Maas who preceded her in death in 1999.
Marjorie is a graduate of Knoxville High School. She enjoyed donating money to various
charities and she especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and her
great-grandchildren.
Marjorie is survived by three daughters, Sandy McCombs of Harvey, Norma Blaylock
of Glendale, Ariz., and Michelle Sandeski of Weyburn, Saskatchewan, Canada; six sons,
Bill, Chris, and Milo of Lovilia, Wendell McCombs of Oskaloosa; Larry Goemaat of
Iowa City, Marlin Goemaat of Knoxville; two step-children, Val Sinnett of British
Columbia and Jim Maas of Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada; 27 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren;
and two half-sisters, Marie Mattson of Alberta, Canada, and Doreen Hyer of Canada.
Marjorie is preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, Eugene McCombs and Louie
Maas; has two children, Nathan and Harold in infancy; and one half-brother, Charles.
Memorial services were held on Dec. 6 at Gilbert Funeral Home, Lovilia Chapel, with
Rev. Leo Freel officiating. A private burial followed the services.
