Graveside services for Marilyn Crawford, 89, of Chariton, will be held Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at the Columbia Cemetery, Columbia, Iowa. Memorials may be made to the Chariton Public Library or to the Chariton High School Music Department.

Marilyn was born September 20, 1935, in Newton, Iowa to Hallie and Blanche Beebout. She was raised near Columbia and Belinda, Iowa and graduated from Knoxville High School in 1953.

In her youth she enjoyed playing softball at the famed Belinda Ball Field. On April 10, 1955, she married Roy Crawford, they were blessed with three children: Doug, Vicki, and Greg.

They made their home in the Chariton area and she worked for L & K Insurance for many years. She loved working with the public as she was such a “people person”.

Marilyn and Roy loved to travel and she loved to play music. Their two passions led to lots of camping and traveling to music jamborees where she would play guitar and sing. She did enjoy traveling, her favorite trip was going to England, she found that she really looked forward to Tea Time when she could enjoy a hot cup of tea and a sweet snack.

Her home was always open and the grandchildren loved trips to Grandma and Grandpa’s. They loved grandma’s library and music room.
