Services for Maggie (DeVos) Brown, 81, of Knoxville, who passed away Sept. 19, 1991 at Westridge Manor, were held Sept. 23 at Evans-McCleery Funeral Home.
Interment was in Greenwood Cemetery.
Rev. Arthur Nichols officiated.
Pallbearers were Harold Gilliland, John De Vos, Jim Sytsma, Richard De Vos, Leo Sytsma and LeRoy Schumacher.
Mrs. Brown was born on Aug. 6, 1910, in Holland, the daughter of John and Alida Metaal De Vos. The family moved to Eddyville when she was six months old. Later the family moved to the Red Rock area where she attended the Union Township Country School in Marion County. She later attended the Knoxville Schools.
She married Forrest Brown in September of 1936 in Knoxville.
They farmed in Union Township until the late 1960s. They moved near Tracy until Forrest's death in 1973. She later moved to Knoxville.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Jesse, Jake, and Paul; and two sisters, her twin, Dena, and Mary.
She is survived by her brother-in-law, George Brown of Knoxville; her sister-in-law, Elizabeth Des Planques of Sunnyvale, Calif., and many other relatives and friends.
