Mabel Clare, youngest child of G.A. and Amelia Rankin, was born on the home farm, seven miles east of Knoxville, March 13,1898, and departed this life on Thursday, Oct. 7, 1926, aged 28 years, 6 months and 28 days, having spent her entire life in this vicinity with the exception of a few years in Des Moines, where she was a valued employee of the Armand Company.

Mabel’s health began to fall about five or six years ago, but not until about a year ago, when she submitted to a surgical operation, was the seriousness of her condition really known.
At that time it was found that nothing for a permanent cure could be done, but everything that medical skill and loving care could do for a temporary relief was done.

Of a cheerful and sunny disposition, she made many friends, and during the last months of intense suffering in silence and complaining little.

She leaves her father, mother, four sisters, Mrs Blanche Crabb, Mrs. Mella Milner, Mrs. Georgia Jones and Mrs. Fae Ream and two brothers, Vic and Harry, all of whom were at her bedside when she passed away.

Funeral services were held Saturday from the M.E. church in charge of Rev. W.A. Longnecker, of Oskaloosa. Interment in Graceland.
