Lora Ellen (Flanders), Iddings, daughter of Eva Jane Jolliffee and MarcelIns Dean Flanders, was born
in Hamilton on Aug. 26, 1897. Later the family resided briefly in Mount Pleasant
and lived three years on a farm in Macon County, Mo.
She came with her parents to Knoxville at an early age. She attended the Knoxville
Schools and was graduated from high school with the class of 1917. Her formal education
was finished at the State University of Iowa and State Teachers College. She taught
for three years in the rural schools of Marion County.
She united with the Methodist Church of Knoxville in 1910 and moved her membership
to Pleasantville when the family came to their present home.
On March 30, 1921, she was united in marriage to Lorris W. Iddings. Seven children
were born into this union. They are Betty of Kenosha, Wis., Elena, Mrs. Thomas Jones,
Franklin of Pleasant Ellen, Mrs. Frank Folsom. and Richard of Knoxville, and Adrian
at home. One daughter, Lora May, died in infancy.
Mrs. Iddings was a member of both State Poetry Associations and found pleasure in
her writing. She is survived by her husband and six children, two daughters-in-law,
two sons-in-law, seven grandchildren, four brothers, and four sisters.
Services were held from St. Paul’s Methodist Church in Pleasantville on March 18
with Rev. W. T. Miller officiating. Interment was in Lincoln Cemetery.
