Memorial services for Leo Augustin Brees, 71, of Knoxville, who died September 7, at his home, were held September 12, 1996, at Bybee and Davis Funeral Home in Knoxville. Burial was at Coalport Cemetery. Military honors were conducted by Baty-Tucker Post #168, American Legion, and John Myers Post 3519, V.F.W.

The Rev. Thomas Partette officiated at the services. Pallbearers were Tom Frank, Bob Hatch, Bob Malone, Jim Mitchell, Corwin Hatch and Steve Donnelly.

Leo was born February 26, 1925, in Marion County, the son of Ocie E. and Zelie M. Herduin Brees. He attended school in Knoxville. He served in the U.S. Army during
World War II. He was a member of the American Legion.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ada; and two brothers, Richard and James.

He is survived by two daughters, Sandy Beaver of Knoxville, and Stacy Vail of Sioux Rapids; two sons, Doug of Laurie Mo., and Jason of Sioux Rapids; a brother, Charles of Chariton; a sister, Frances Kain of Knoxville; longtime friend Fran Fox; six grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Coalport Cemetery.
