Funeral services for Leland Francis Brause, 92, of Prior Lake, Minn., who died Monday, May 3, 2004, at the St. Francis Regional Hospital in Shakopee, Minn., was held Friday,
May 7, at the Tracy United Methodist Church. Rev. Forrest Durham officiated at the services. Jim Kidder was the vocalist accompanied by Mary Sneller, organist.
Interment was at the Graceland Cemetery in Knoxville. Casketbearers were Bruce Anderson, Jeff Anderson, Bill Bacus, Howard Brause, Paul Brause, and Gordon Snow.
Leland was born on Oct. 24, 1911, in Marion County, the son of Frank Thomas and Ada (Houser) Brause. He graduated from Knoxville High School in 1930.
On May 21, 1941, he married Wilma Wilkes in Knoxville. To this union, two daughters were born. Leland and Wilma farmed in the Knoxville area until 1947.
They then purchased a farm west of Tracy and Leland remained fanning there until 2003. He then moved to Prior Lake, Minn. where he remained until his death.
Leland enjoyed lapidary where he spent many hours cutting and polishing rocks and semi-precious stones. In his spare time,
Leland could be found arrowhead hunting or attending craft shows.
Known as a sweet gentleman and a good neighbor to all, Leland never met a stranger. He was a regular visitor to the Tracy General Store and Anderson Service Station
was known to have a very sharp eye with a pool cue. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Wilma, in 1997; and a brother, Ralph.
He is survived by two daughters, Shirley Anderson of Des Moines and Fran and her husband, Larry Page, of Prior Lake, Minn.; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Tracy Methodist Church or Tracy Fire and Rescue Unit Arrangements were made by Williams Funeral Home.
