Funeral services for Katherine “Kathy” Marie (Hollingshead) Phillips, 49, of Burlington and formerly
of Knoxville, who died Thursday, Dec. 4, 2003, at Great River Medical Center in West
Burlington was held Tuesday, Dec. 9, at Lunning Chapel in Burlington. Rev. Tom
Smith officiated at the services. The interment was at the Graceland Cemetery in Knoxville.

Kathy was born on May 11, 1954, in Oskaloosa, to Howard Merwin Hollingshead and
Marilyn DeNese Jeannoutot. She graduated from Knoxville High School in 1972.

She later graduated from Area 11 Community College in Ankeny with a degree in Horticulture.
She also attended Western Illinois University and Southeastern Community College.
She was pursuing a degree in education.

Kathy worked at Festival Foods and Kwik Shop in Burlington. She was a member of
the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ. She enjoyed writing poems, crossword
puzzles, and being with her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her husband; three daughters, Marilyn Elizabeth Gantz, Heather Marie Gantz, and Kimberly Alanna Phillips all of the home; and two sisters, Chris (Merlin) Hagan of Savannah, Mo., and Carolyn (Rick) Clark of St. Joseph, Mo.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
