Services for Katheryne Lorrane Sims, 55, who died Feb. 5, 1983, at Iowa Methodist
Medical Center in Des Moines, was held on Feb. 8 at First United Methodist Church.

Evans-McCleery Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Interment was in Graceland
Cemetery. Rev. John Beebout officiated at the services. Music was provided by Jim
Kidder, organist, and John Crawford, soloist. Pallbearers were Neb Job, Ron Wilharm,
Tom Tucker, Richard Hixson, Lew Job, and Leonard Long. Honorary pallbearers were
Howard Kading, Raymond Glenn, Macil King, George Andrew, William R. Scott, and Ralph
Geith.

Mrs. Sims was born May 27, 1927, in Marion County, the daughter of Lloyd and
Maude Carter Rankin. She attended school in the Dallas area and graduated from Knoxville
High School in 1944.

She was married to Harry Sims on Dec. 16, 1944, in Temple, Tex.
She was employed by Continental Overall Factory, Bellamy Telephone Company, Lister’s
Dress Center and Community National Bank. Following graduation from the American Institute
of Business in Des Moines in 1961, she was employed at Iowa State Savings Bank as
an executive secretary and trust officer. She was a member of the First United Methodist
Church and belonged to the National Association of Bank Women.

She is survived by
her husband, Harry of Knoxville; her mother, Maude Rankin of Knoxville; four brothers,
Kenneth and Dwight of Fairbanks, Alaska, and Ralph and William (Chic) of Knoxville;
three nieces and two nephews.

A nephew, Bill Rankin, was raised by Mrs. Sims
and her husband. Memorials can be made to the First United Methodist Church.
