Funeral services for John Thomas Marshall, 72, of Knoxville, who died on Sunday,
June 24, 2001, at the V. A. Medical Center in Knoxville, was held on Wednesday,
June 27, at Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Prairie City.
Interment was at Waveland
Cemetery. Military Rites were provided by the Booth DeVries American Legion in Prairie
City. John was born on February 6, 1929, in Knoxville.
The son of Jesse B. and Nora
(Christian) Marshall graduated from Knoxville High School in 1948. He served
in the U.S. Military during the Korean War. He lived in Waukesha, Wis. for many
years with his family. He returned to Iowa, moving to Newton in 1982. He was preceded
in death by his parents; a daughter, Lisa Marshall; and several brothers and sisters.
He is survived by three sons, David Marshall of Waukesha, Wis., Greg Marshall of
Fargo, N.D. and Kevin Marshall of Alden, Minn.; two daughters, Toma Marshall of
Columbia, Mo. and Barbara Lynch of Rolla, Mo.; six grandchildren; a brother, Floyd
Marshall of Letts; and two sisters, Esther Pearson and Mary Lou Bissinger both of
Prairie City.
Memorials may be made to the John Thomas Marshall Memorial Fund.
