Funeral services for John Orland Clark, 79, of Red Oak, who died Thursday, January
24, 2002, at Montgomery County Memorial Hospital in Red Oak, were held Monday, January 28, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Red Oak. Father James Kleffman officiated at
the services. Charla Schmid was organist. Jack VonBon and Joe Nealon were ushers.
The internment of ashes was at Glendale Cemetery in Des Moines. John was born on December 15, 1922, in Durham, Iowa.

He was the son of Marvin 0. and Violet (Lancaster) Clark.
He was raised on a farm in Marion County. He entered the United States Navy in 1942
serving four years and then serving seven years with the Air Force.

He married Doris L. Hartman on November 30, 1945, in Des Moines; she died on December 23, 1991. John
lived in Des Moines and worked for Northwestern Bell Telephone for 27 years, retiring
in January of 1981.

He later married Geraldine Bruce Hartman on May 29, 1993, in Red Oak. John and Geraldine moved to Red Oak in 1998. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Red Oak, American Legion Post Baty-Tucker #168 in Knoxville,
V.F.W. #14000 in Kansas City, Mo., Telephone Pioneers of America and lifetime member of Communications Workers of America.John Clark

He was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife. He is survived by his wife, Geraldine Clark of Red Oak; a son, Michael Clark of New Virginia; a sister, Daisy Anderson of Knoxville; two brothers, Robert
0. Clark of Sun City West, Ariz. And Fred J. Clark of Texarkana, Texas; two step-daughters,
Theresa Limbrick of Red Oak and Susanne Colter of Council Bluffs; and other relatives
and friends.
