Joan Marilyn (Schreiber) Winterberg, 78, died peacefully at The Grove of Fox Valley in Aurora, IL on January 18, 2017.

Born on August 3, 1938, in Perry Point, MD, daughter of the late Arthur and Edna (Sheridan) Schreiber, Joan was raised in Knoxville, IA. She attended Central College in Pella, IA where she earned her Bachelor’s degree met her husband and began her teaching career before moving to NJ. In NJ she taught for the West Milford School District, served as a Girl Scout leader, and earned her Master’s degree. After retiring she moved to Phoenix, AZ before settling in Aurora, IL.

She was a member of AuSable Grove Presbyterian Church and was a doting grandmother. Joan is survived by her daughters, Joan and Katherine, her grandchildren Brian, Christopher, Nichole, and Kevin, her great-grandchildren Alora, Gabriel, Trinity, and Leela, her brother Richard and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents and husband, Robert J. Winterberg, Jr. A memorial service is scheduled for February 9, 2017, at 1 PM at AuSable Grove Presbyterian Church, 5021 Wheeler Rd, Yorkville, IL, with Reverend Jennifer Olson officiating.

Interment will be at Warwick Cemetery, Warwick, NY at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to AuSable Grove Presbyterian Church or a charity of the donor’s choice.
