Jim Henry McDonald Jr., 67, of Cherokee passed away Thursday, March 15, 2012, at a
Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. today at Meriden Evangelical Free Church in Meriden,
with the Rev. Larry Ostercamp officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery at
Cherokee.

Arrangements are under the direction of Greenwood Funeral Home in Cherokee. Online

James Henry McDonald Jr., the son of Alma (Smith) and Jim McDonald, was born on
July 4, 1944, in Des Moines, Iowa. He graduated from Knoxville (Iowa) High School
in 1962. He later graduated from Morningside College in Sioux City in 1967.

Jim married the love of his life, Linda Menke, on Dec. 21, 1968. They were blessed
with two children, Mike and Jill. They made their home in Anthon, Iowa, where Jim
taught school at Anthon-Oto High School from 1967 through 1974. They moved to Cherokee,
and Jim went to work at Tyson Foods in Cherokee until his retirement in 2007.

He loved woodworking and refinishing old furniture. He was an avid Iowa Hawkeye
fan, and also enjoyed fishing, playing cards, coaching baseball, and attending his
grandchildren ' sporting events. He deeply loved his family and his church.

He is survived by his two children, Mike McDonald, and his wife, Susy of Ankeny,
Iowa, and Jill Johnston and her husband, Neal of Cleghorn, Iowa; four grandchildren,
Adams was born in Knoxville, Iowa, and was a graduate of Drake University in Des Taylor, Trista, Emma, and Jack; four brothers, Bill and his wife, Diane of Knoxville,
Iowa, Jack and his wife, Diane of Milo, Mo., and Tony and his wife, Patty of Pleasantville,
Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his loving wife, Linda, in 2007.
