Funeral services for James H. Templeton, 90, of Knoxville, who died March 28, 2000
at the Knoxville Area Community Hospital, were held on April 1, at Evans-McCleery Funeral
in Knoxville. Sam Nichols and Bill McDonald officiated at the services.

Burial was at Ruckman Cemetery in Knoxville. Casketbearers were Beryle Bacus, Cecil Harry,
Kay Harsin, Amos Laird, Delbert McCombs, and Bill Schultz.

James was born on November 3, 1909, in Red Rock, Iowa, the son of Joseph L. and Mary A. Jones Templeton. He
graduated from Knoxville High School. He furthered his education by attending short courses at Iowa State University.

James married Blanche Karr on June 7, 1935, at the home of his maternal grandfather, George Jones, who was their minister. They
lived in various locations before purchasing the farm where they have lived for nearly 59 years. Farming was a vocation he loved. James was a member of the Presbyterian
Church and the Morning Knoxville Kiwanis Club. He enjoyed people and was always ready to “visit”.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Lee and Hugh; and two sisters, Alice J., Hugens, and Ruth Roetman. He is survived by his
wife, Blanche, of Knoxville; two daughters, Mary Phillips of Bella Vista, Arkansas; Susan Prather, of Knoxville; one sister, Sarah Harvey Roetman of Knoxville; two
grandchildren, one great-grandchild, three step-grandchildren, and five step-great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Knoxville Senior Center and Knoxville Rescue Unit.
