Jacob W. Sneller, 80, died January 8, 2005 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday. January 14 at Westminster Presbyterian Church. Visitation will be held from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday. January 13 at Hamilton's
Southtown Funeral Home.
Jacob was born on December 8, 1924 in Cordova, Iowa. He graduated from Knoxville High School and joined the Navy. He served during WW II and was present at the D-Day invasion.
On September 21, 1945, he married Helen Keller. He worked
as Vice President and Director of Engineering at KRNT/KCCI in Des Moines
Jacob is survived by his wife, Helen: children, Marcia (Doug) Ohde of Des Moines and Joseph (Debra) Sneller of Lincoln, Nebraska; grandchildren, Laura (Todd) Price, Mark (Amy) Ohde, Andy Sneller, and Lindsay Sneller; great-grandchildren, Cassidy Price and Allison Ohde; sister. Pat (Wayne) Nyswonger; and brother, Joseph (Annabel) Sneller.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Anna Sneller; brother, Martin; and sister, Margaret.
Jacob was an avid sports fan who loved supporting his grandchildren and many other youth at their sporting events. He was also a loyal supporter of Iowa State athletics.
Memorials can be made to the FFA Chapter in Knoxville, Iowa.
