Services for Ivan F. Martin, 78, of Bimidji, Minn. and formerly of Knoxville, who died of a heart attack Jan. 9, 1987, were held Jan. 12 at the First Presbyterian Church in
Bemidji, Minn. with interment in Greenwood Cemetery.

Mr. Martin was born May 25, 1908 at Dunreath, the son of William and Minnie Martin.

He was a graduated of Knoxville High School and Attended Iowa State University.

In 1930 he married Florence Bishop at Nashua.

Employed by the telephone company for over 38 years; he rose from lineman to superintendent of construction for northwestern Iowa.
Retiring to Bemidji in the early 1960s, he developed a tree farm near Cass Lake. He was named Tree Farmer of the Year by the American Forestry Association.

Preceded in death by his first wife in 1962 he married Joyce LeDncShort on May 25, 1979 at Sitka, Alska.

He was and Army veteran of World War II and was a member of Waterloo Lodge No. 105 Af & Am of Waterloo; the Ralph Graceie
Amereican Legion Post, Telephone Pioneers of America, and the First Presbyterian Church where he served as and elder and deacon.

Besides his first wife he was preceded in death by his parents and one sister Anna.

He is survived by his wife, one son Robert of Irving, Texas, one Daughter, Mrs. Wayne (Barbara) Short of Petersberg, Alaska; two stepdaughters, Molly Short of Santa Clara; Carla and Mrs. David (Heather) Short Fields of Grand Forks SD.
seven grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.
