Funeral services for Idris Harry Martin, 93, of Brookfield Mo., formerly of Knoxville,
who died March 8, 1999 at Parkview Meadows Nursing Home in Brookfield, were held March
12, 1999, at EvansMcCleery Funeral Home in Knoxville. Burial was at Greenwood Cemetery
in Knoxville.
The Rev. Charles A. Martin officiated at the services. Music was provided by Janet
Westberg, organist, and Wayne and Janet Westberg, soloists. Pallbearers were Wayne
Westberg, Roger Boertje, Rodney Martin, Charles. Martin, Dwight Curley, and Dale
Littlejohn.
Idris was born February 15, 1906, near Pleasantville, the son of Charles Alexander
and Mary Martha Knight Martin. He graduated from Knoxville High School.
He was united in marriage to Irene Worrall on September 4, 1927, in Knoxville. The
couple lived their entire married lives in Marion County. They farmed in the Pleasantville
and Knoxville areas before retiring in 1982, and moving to Knoxville. He moved to
Missouri to be near his son after the death of his wife in 1994.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a son, Harry Jack; a brother,
Frank; and a sister, Reda Van Zante.
He is survived by a son, Charles of Laclede, Mo.; a sister, Pluma Murr of Columbia;
six grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Christian Opportunity Center in Pella, and the Cystic
Fibrosis Foundation, Iowa Chapter.
