Funeral services for Howard Venable Hunt, 92, of Knoxville, who died January 23,
at West Ridge Manor Nursing Home, were held January 25, 1997, at First United Methodist
Church in Knoxville. Burial was at Lincoln Cemetery.

The Rev. Bob Ward officiated at the services. Music was provided by Linda Gehling,
organist, Richard Hunt, soloist, and Geof Shultz, pianist. Pallbearers were Gene
Hays, John Jordan, Rupert Moon, David Jordan, John Caswell, and Charles Walter.

Howard was born June 21, 1904, in Marion County, the son of Charles F. and Mae Cordye
Hunt.

He was a lifelong Knoxville resident, graduating from Knoxville High School in 1922.

He was united in marriage to Irene Kelly on November 7, 1928. He was a mail carrier
for 43 years, retiring in 1969. Over the years, he also helped his son farm. He
was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the Odd Fellows, Retired Federal
Employees, Farm Bureau, and National Rural Letter Carriers Association.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Irene; and a brother, Chester.

He is survived by a son, Richard of Knoxville; two grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Central Iowa, and the First United Methodist
Church Radio Ministry.
