Hazel Elizabeth Worrall was born on July 20, 1921 in Knoxville, Iowa to Arthur and Bertha (Edgington) Worrall. Hazel was raised
and graduated from Knoxville High School. After high school, she received two years of college at Simpson and then transferred to UNI and received her Bachelor of Arts in teaching.

Hazel began her teaching career in Marion County rural schools. She also taught in Washington State, Reinbeck, Iowa, Algona, Iowa, and Waterloo. Since 1952 she lived and taught in Waterloo until her retirement. Hazel was also a member of the Iowa State Education Association and Delta Kappa Gama.

Hazel passed away on Tuesday, September 21, 2010, at the Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo at the age of 89 years, two months, and one day.

Hazel was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters, Delta Hegwood, Irene Martin, Betty Leeper, and Lola Steurwald; and five brothers, Glen, Delmar, Roy, James, and William Worrall.

She is survived by her sister-in-law, Betty Worrall of Knoxville; many nieces, nephews, and cousins,
including Dyan and Paul Mitchell and their family Caitlin, Allyson, and a great-
great-great nephew Bryer; and many close friends.
