Services for Harold C. Moon, 67, Shamburg, Ill, and formerly of the Knoxville-Columbia
area, who died, Aug. 23, 1992, at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights,
Ill., were Aug. 25 at the St. Matthews Church in Shamburg, Ill. Burial was at the
St. Joseph Cemetery in River Grove, Ill.
Harold was born on Sept. 25, 1924 in Columbia,
the son of Walter L. and Jessie V. Moon. He attended Knoxville High School before
moving to Chicago in 1940.
On Dec. 16, 1941 he enlisted in the Navy and was sent
to New London, Conn. for machine shop training until he was 18 years old, at which
time he was assigned to the USS Holland anchored just outside of Guam. He was stationed
there until the war ended. He returned to Chicago when he was discharged on Dec.
18, 1945.
He was married to Charlotte Blanchard in 1946. He worked for the Duofast
Corporation as an international technician laison until he retired. He was the vice-president
of Lexington Green II Association where they were currently residing.
He was preceded
in death by his parents; two sisters, Cleo Bates and Wilma Singer; and one brother,
Robert Moon.
Survivors include his wife; one son, Leonard of Godfrey, Ill.; one
daughter, Judith James of Shamburg, II; one brother, Donald Moon of Milan, Ill.;
two sisters, Marie Stotts and Mildred Beebout of Knoxville; and one grandson.
